After some personal happenings in my life, my kids and I now live in California.
I have been out hunting a couple of times here in the city of Alameda and ar some
regional parks and I love it. The weather is nice and I'm already finding silver.
Hopefully I will be able to update my finds page soon, until then...good hunting.

How ya been? Been a while since my last post here, but I am ready to start
the 2014 hunting season. I have yet to get out hunting this year but am itching
to get things started.
It has been a wild winter in the Northwest. Maybe not as wild as those of you who
are back east, but we got our fair share of snow too. Over 2 feet fell in my town
at the beginning of February, but luckily I missed it as I was out of town visiting
family. In fact, we just made it out of the valley as the snow first started falling!
Sure can't wait for some of this mud to dry up so I can get out hunting again. The
hope is that with all the cold weather, some goodies we moved around in some of my
old honey holes and they are ripe for the picking. A coupld more weeks and I will

Been quite a while since I have made an entry here, but that is ok. Have been out
quite a bit hunting this season with my good friend Rob. We have made some pretty nice
finds too. Some that come to mind are when we both got Indian Heads at a local
University and then went back to the same spot the next week and I got a sweet V nickel.
A friend got us on what looked to be a really great old farm house. We both were drooling
when we got there. Within 5 minutes we both had wheaties and we thought it was going to be
a honey hole, but those were the only two coins we found of note. You just never know...
Can't wait to see what the summer holds. Got some great places to hunt that could turn
out to be very interesting. Will keep the site updated as I can. GOOD HUNTING!!!
February 6, 2013
Been quite a while since I have made an entry here, but that is ok. It is the
off-season in Oregon. Too wet and cold to get out. My last hunt was in September
but I did get a sweet 1918 Merc on that trip. Now that things are starting to warm
up a bit, I am anxious to get back out and am going to shoot for this weekend.
Probably just a local park to work the rust out of the old V3 and myself.
Did get a nice email from some students at a community center who used my site
in their exploration of the hobby. It was really nice to hear people using my site
to learn more about metal detecting. Kind of why I built it. So here is to
another great year! Let the silver and gold be old and plentiful!!!
July 27, 2012
Looking forward to a big day of hunting tomorrow. After a trying day at work,
I can't wait to get out with my buddy Rob and hunt some old private property. I
am really hoping for some big silver, my first of the year. I have been doing
alright with silver this year, but all dimes. I need some quarters under my coil,
or even a half would be nice. Either way, a day in the field with a good friend
is a pretty good day. Will put an update on here later this weekend...

Been out hunting some but I took last weekend off. All my buddies were busy
and the wife got a nice weekend out with a friend. Starting to get the itch to go
back out though and it's only Monday. Can't wait for the weekend now.
The weather has been very nice here lately, not hot like the rest of the country.
I don't always like living in Oregon but the summers are very pleasant. Just wish I
had more time and more places to hunt. I think I need to be concentrating more on
private property as I seem to have the best luck there. The key is to just get
out and start asking. I should knock on doors after work when I am dressed nicely
and just ask if I can come by on the weekend. Hope everyone is having a nice summer!!!

Well, the school that I visited last weekend did not want to give up more silver
as it turns out. No matter though, it was a great day with a good friend. We hunted
for about 7 hours straight, I haven't done that in a while. It started out a little
misty but then the sun came out and it was beautiful. Good way to spend a Sunday.
I would like to put a quick word in about stereo mixed audio mode on the Spectra V3i.
I really love to hunt with this feature. I find that I dig less trash and find better,
deeper finds. Having all metal in one ear and discrimination in the other does take some
getting used to for sure, but it is like second nature to me now. Anyone hunting with this
machine should give this mode a try and see what they think. I would love the hear how other
people use this feature.

It has been way too long since the last time that I have made an entry here.
I guess that is what happens when you graduate and get a new job. I moved out of
the processing plant and over to the administration building as a computer support
technician. It is so great doing what I want to do. Hunting for me now only happens
on the weekends now that I am on a new schedule. I still try to get out as often as
Last week I hunted a university in my area and had a great day. I had a two silver day
which does not happen very often for me. I got a 1943-S Mercury dime and a 1964 Rosie.
The last find of the day was a military general service button probably from around the turn
of the last century. Still researching that. Going to hit this school again this
coming weekend, can't wait.

Hey everyone. Summer has finally hit in Oregon and it has been a little too
hot to go out hunting all day. I have gotten out on a few mornings and weekends
though and made some decent finds. Got a Rosie and some Wheaties at various old
colleges in my area. I even got a Rosie at my old hunted out standby park. It
was under a nickel of the same year, 1953. That park never ceases to amaze me.
Also got a silver ring at a school that I was able to give my daughter for her
birthday. She sure does love the jewelry.
Going to pick up a good detecting friend tomorrow morning to go hunt some more
schools. It should be fun as long as it doesn't get too hot. Hopefully I will
get some silver but it should be fun regardless. Good hunting all!!!

Hey everyone. Sorry I haven't been keeping up on this very much, but you
know how life goes. Haven't been getting out too much this summer, just here
and there. School and the kids take up a lot of my time and the weather has
not been great this summer. I did get a silver Rosie and a wheatie on my last
outing to an old college campus, so that was nice.
Got a great birthday present this year from some friends. They show up at my house
with a bag of potting soil and say, "Get your machine boy!!!" Hidden amongst
some trash and a wheatie I found a beautiful 1929 Standing Liberty Quarter. It
was a very nice find and a great idea for a detecting man. I will never forget
March 24, 2011
I hope everyone is having a great detecting year. I have been getting out
more and more as the weather gets better. January was a nice hunting month for
me but February and March have been wet and rainy. The best finds for me the
last two months were wheaties from the '20s. I am hoping that Spring coming will
allow things to dry out around here. Some new friends joined the hobby and we
have been hitting more private property spots, but I still visit the old parks
now and then for a relaxing hunt, hoping I missed something on previous hunts.
Hope you all are having better weather and luck than I am.

A belated Happy New Year to all. I have been out several times already this
new year with some decent finds to show for it. Mostly thanks to some new
detecting friends from work and their permission to hunt some private property.
Got a few wheats, a buffalo nickel and even a Mercury dime. It sure was nice
to get that dime, been a while. I plan on hunting more this year if my responsibilities
allow. Sure hope to get a Seated, that would be nice, or a Walker half even.
I should have some new pics of this month's finds up soon. Thanks to everyone
for visiting my site!!!
October 18, 2010
Well, I have been back at work for a while now and life is finding it's groove.
I have gotten out hunting here and there and found some nice coins over at
my old stand-by park. Never ceases to amaze me that I still find old coins there.
This last trip yielded a '57 wheatie, some nickels from the '50s and a real heartbreaker.
The heartbreaker was a Barber dime that was bent and corroded almost beyond recognition.
I could read "ONE DIME" on one side and see the silhouette of the Liberty head on
the other side, but no date. At least it wasn't another unrecognizable Seated Liberty
coin, that would have really broken my heart.
More to come...

My son Cooper is home now and is already a week old. I am enjoying my time
off with the family and trying to help out the wife at home.
I think that while my oldest is at school this week I will try and get out to
some parks for some quick hunting. I know I have hunted out most of them but you
just never know. Hopefully I get something cool to post on the site.
September 10, 2010
The family and I are anxiously awaiting the birth of our son. The little guy
is due he 11th so any day now.
I was able to get out a couple of times in the past few weeks. On one excursion
with some detecting buddies of mine, I found a silver 1964 Rosie dime and a junk
ring along with clad. At the house of a friend on another hunt I found 4 wheat
pennies with dates or 1920, 1924, 1940 and 1944. The big find though was a 1906
Indian Head penny found in the frount yard. I plan on going back to this house
August 20, 2010
Got some good news. My school has allowed me a leave of absence so that I
can have more time with the family in the coming month. It is going to be a busy
one with the new baby coming and both my daughters starting school. I may even
have a few more opportunities to do some hunting. Been a while since I dug up
August 17, 2010
This new page is an attempt to keep things more up to date on my website.
Unfortunately, I have not been able to get out hunting too much this year. With
school, kids and my wife being pregnant, trips out have been few and far between.
I have made some nice finds like another silver Rosie, some wheats, buffao nickels
and a silver ring, but nothing to get overly excited about.
One more year of school and I should have some more free time. In the meantime,
I hope to get out more as the weather cools off a bit and find some new sites
that are full of old coins.
Thanks everyone for visiting and supporting my site. I am almost to 1000 hits
and am very proud of that. Keep checking things out, you never know when I might
find something really cool.
